Crew members on MSC Seaside report issues with the "Better Performance Bonus".
Initially promised a $450 bonus tied to passenger satisfaction, many received nothing in September due to a "zero" satisfaction score, which some suspect was manipulated. Crew claims this bonus is reliably paid only on U.S.-based ships.
The attached document the crew member sent us from MSC management, titled "Better Performance Bonus - September's Payslip Update," acknowledges a bug in the bonus calculation and promises that arrears will be paid in the next payroll cycle. However, crew members are skeptical, suspecting this may be a tactic to delay payments.
The crew member said:
"A few days ago they met with us with the intention of calming the problem by saying that for the next month we will receive 250 dollars of bonus. Coincidentally, the same thing is happening on MSC Divina where the cabin crew are rebelling and have been promised the same. This shows that they control the bonus they promised and that no matter how hard we work, they decide when and how much to pay. The ships are always full and passengers are prepaid."
