Cruise Line: Carnival
Position: Entertainment Tech
Salary: varies, raises offered per contract, starts at $2850 p/m and goes up from there
Experience: I’ve only been onboard a year, I’m new to the crew life. With my position we are very fortunate to have a good amount of time for shore leave. Only times I’ve been unable to get off are IPM or if I’m technician on duty. Most managers try to line up the 2 to avoid having you onboard too much! The hours are typically 3pm to 11pm but it varies dependent on the days activities and the itinerary.
Crew bar: the bar on the 2 ships I’ve been on is very lively. The crew activity managers try to make life fun and provide as many events as possible for crew, like themed bar nights, karaoke, and a minimum of 1 crew party a month.
Living space: shared room, just 1 roommate and private bathroom for the 2 of you. I’ve noticed entertainment cabins tend to be slightly more spacious than that of other departments but as I said I’ve only been on 2 ships. Singer’s and management get their own cabins, all other team members have shared cabins.
