Carnival Carnival Cruise Line Guest Services Experience

Cruise Line Rating
4.00 star(s)
Company: Carnival
Department: Guest Services
Salary: $2,000 plus

To begin with, I have made very good friends working with Carnival. Friends I know I can depend on both emotionally and financially.
Cabins: The bigger the ship, the small the cabin. You share your cabin 99.9% of the times with another GS team member. Not all roomates can be good but my roomate last contract was amazing. Pray to God or whatever higher being that you get a good one and not one from hell! Plus praying for bottom bunk and not the top.

Food: Crew mess food is depressing however I have never lost weight because I make do with what I have and I keep it moving. I am definitely not skipping a meal because the food is crappy. Something has to work. Also, access to guest dining rooms, buffets, and specialty restaurants so that's a plus.

Crew: The crew are nice and friendly on a personal plain. However, when it comes to getting work done when calling departments, they can be pretty nasty which leads to call their supervisors and in extreme cases, their managers. Your team also falls into the crew where if you do not have a good team, you're going to have a pretty crappy contract!
I'm not sure what I missed out on but life on Carnival is pretty good especially at Guest Services. Another crew member would call it good life due to having free time and not working more than 8 hrs however, mental work is just as tiring as physical work when dealing with guests.

So, be mentally prepared to deal with brain drain and body fatigue. Rest as much as you can, eat as healthy as you can and attend the gym once its possible (crew gym or guest gym).
